Miss Representation

In my Critical Thinking class we watched a movie about the effect of Media on females and how this shapes our society. This documentary was taken from the point of view of a women about to have a daughter and didn't want her daughter to grow up in this type of the world. Where women are not acknowledge for there achievement but for how they look to a man. This documentary used famous female actors and politicians to show how they are treated different then men. This documentary was very eye opening to me because when I was younger never really realized the effect that the media had on women.  With female actors role in shows is predominately to find a man to help her with any problems she has. The idea that a women needs a man to become big is disgusting or that they must fit a mans idea of pretty. I think some of these problems has been recognized since 2011 but it is still a big problem. I think as a society we need to recognize this problem and not put it aside but solve it and talk about it.

  1. I agree with you on how the media doesn't recognize women as much as men do. I've also experienced the same thing as you when it comes to women being portrayed less powerful compared to men in movies and TV shows. I think that women should get the same treatment when it comes to how they are presented in the media. The fact that this hasn't been changing much since 2011 shows how we, as a society, aren't progressive enough.
