Mook's and The Effect on Middle Age Teens

In Critical Thinking we watched a documentary about how companies biggest market is teenager and how they appeal to us. One way the marketers say that they connect with us is through Mooks older hip men that like to be in front of the camera and yell a lot. Since I was a little kid there has always been Mooks in my Tv Shows and movies that I watch. In shows they are always the big cool football team or the jocks at the school. One show that has a big mook is South Park the character Cartman makes a bunch of potty jokes and is always in front on the camera making fun of people. This next example is not particularly a show but Youtube a group that is well liked named Nelk they drink a lot and like to do social experiments on the public. This group is entreating to watch but it does not inspire anyone to be like them or act this way.

 Mooks main appeal is suppose to be kids around my age and to be honest I am not that entertained by it. The stupid joke and the annoying manner these character are told to play as just makes me more mad and start to hate the character. To people that believe these Mooks change teenagers I believe you have to be in and environment where everyone act like they need to be center of attention in way that insults other. I think most teenagers do not look up to these character and see it as something they don't want to be when they grow up but are merely entertained by it.

Ads Technique and appeals

In Critical thinking we have been learning about many common advertising techniques and how ad companies try and get your attention. We learned over 18 different techniques that ad companies use like weasel words, patriotism, and plain folks appeal. All these techniques are used to grab your attention and persuade you to think about their item and or to buy their item. One ad that grabbed my attention this week was the Geico commercial where the gecko imagines what he would do if he had the power of the infinity gauntlet. What he would do is make it so each person could save as much money as possible on insurance. With Avengers Endgame being the big hit of the month this advertisement intrigues many people while also tell you what the company is all about. This ad company use Testimonial technique to use the big movie of the year to intrigue people to think about there company when they see this movie and or think of this concept. Persuaders

When i think about advertisement that tries and persuade me to pick there item over competitors is places like Samsung. Apple has taken over as the big phone market so Samsung is playing catchup. Every commercial for a new product they try and roast on apple for a certain feature or show that theirs is better. Apple is engrained as the main smartphone and might always be on top. These companies always have to show commercials show why they are better while apple just shows what they have. Other companies that do this same thing is phone services like version, t-mobile, and sprint most people have ATAT and is sort of the king of phone service. While these other service try and bring down the bigger companies to make theres make sense. These smaller ones have to make the most ads just so that they can catch up to the bigger guys.
